Conservation & The Local Area
At Ty Hen we’re passionate about nature and our local environment and we endeavour to do as much as we can to help conserve the local area. From small actions such as using recycled paper to large projects such as our waste water treatment plant and reed bed, we’re committed to the conservation of our area. As a result of this work we have been awarded the prestigious David Bellamy ‘GOLD’ Conservation Award every year since 1999. Here are just some of the ways that you can help with conservation.
The Local Area
Set in the scenic west coast of Anglesey in North Wales, Rhosneigr is a friendly and atmospheric village with a thriving community and rich heritage. Here you’ll find award winning golden sand beaches with plenty of safe bathing areas for all the family. Children and adults alike will love exploring rock pools and taking a refreshing dip in the sea, while adventure sport lovers can try their hand at surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing which are popular in the area.
Llyn Maelog is a large lake that is full of wildlife from the melodious reed warbler bird in the summer to the golden plover and greylag geese in the winter. Coarse fishing is also popular on the lake with Carp, Tench and Pike all to be found in the water, just remember to grab a rod licence from the post office. For those who love tennis or lawn bowls then a trip to Rhosneigr Tennis & Bowling club is a must with plenty of opportunities to make new friends. Unspoiled countryside surrounds Rhosneigr making it the perfect spot for walking and getting back to nature.
Walks & Beaches
With over five miles of sandy beaches just a 10 minute walk from Ty Hen and beaches in both directions from the park there are plenty of places for you to stretch your legs. The stunning west coast of Anglesey provides a wonderful backdrop and you can spend hours exploring the local network of footpaths in the area. Further afield there are some great walks including a selection of simply stunning coastal routes.
Don’t forget to bring your golf clubs with you as Anglesey Golf Club is less that half a mile from the site and offers a challenging 18 holes of true links golfing. Visitors are very welcome and the club has a thriving seniors section for the over 55 with a full calendar of events.
Of course many visitors to Anglesey come for the water sports and in Rhosneigr you’ll be well catered for. You can launch your boat via the slip on Rhosneigr beach and we’re happy for you to keep your boat or jet ski on site for a fee of £10 per week. There are a couple of surf shops in the village which include Funsport and Gecko where you can rent windsurfers, kayaks, kitesurfers, paddleboards and surfboards as well as booking lessons at both shops and the FKS surf school.
If you prefer getting your adrenaline thrills on dry land then a trip to Anglesey’s racing circuit Trac Mon is a must. From experience days and motor clubs to track days, a visit to Trac Mon will help get your engine revving.
